We've been working on writing a piece about what our gift is to the world.  The students are having a fun time writing in cursive and have been awarded a trophy for thier gift.  Each of us make this world a better place.

Terry Fox - paint the hair blue!

Our Terry Fox walk is this Thursday. As a final push to help surpass last years goal, we are having a raffle. The winning students will be called on stage to dye a teacher's hair blue. Ticket's cost $2.00 each and will be sold on Wednesday during the lunch hour.

Please make sure to dress appropriately for the day of the walk.  Thank you to all who donated to such a great and worthy cause.

Be Brave

We have planned all units of study in accordance with The Ontario Curricula.  The rigorous and challenging classroom program will be highly integrated to ensure that all curriculum expectations are met.  As outlined in the Language curriculum: “Language is central to students’ intellectual, social and emotional growth, and must be seen as a key element of the curriculum”.   In like manner, the Mathematics curriculum states: “When students learn mathematics, they do more than master basic skills; they acquire a concise and powerful means of communication”.  In essence, our goal is to acquire the skills that are essential outside the classroom and in the workplace by meeting the ministry expectations.  Albeit intense, the program promises to bring enthusiasm and variety coupled with sound learning theories and a wide array of instructional strategies.

As the year progresses, I plan to be in constant communication with all the homes of the students in my class. The communication will be in a variety of formats, through your child’s agenda, a personal note, a phone call, or by you simply logging on our class  blog.

Welcome to a wonderful and exciting year in Grade 6.
