Nelson Mandela

Today we learned some interesting facts about who Nelson Mandela was and what amazing things he did.  

Here are some things we learned:

1. He was a peacemaker, author and world figure

2. He was born July 18, 1918 in South Africa

3. He had a hard children and was adopted by a tribal chief

4. His birth name was Rolihlahla Mandela

5. He was jailed for 27 years

6. He won 35 awards, including the Nobel peace prize

7.  He was 95 years old when he died on Dec 5, 2013

8.  He was the president of South Africa from 1994-1999

9. He was Baptized United Methodist

10. He was very inspirational to all people
