Halloween Veggies

In the spirit of Halloween coming up.....make sure to eat your veggies.

Mountsberg Summary

We had an awesome day at Mountsberg today and really lucked into some great weather.  Here are some pictures and fun facts that we learned today.....

Snakes can fly
Snakes can be 25 feet
Owls heads rotate 270 degree
Owls have 3 eyelids
Owls puke remains of animals into pellets and can even eat skunks
No snake is poisonous....some are venomous.

We also measured our "wing" span and found out that we are all Turkey Vultures.

The Golden Eagle and Bald Eagle were very majestic birds.  They kept staring at us.

We were able to touch the snakes and owl wings and legs and went on a hike through the birds of prey exhibit.

We also got to meet the two Owls - Alba Alba and Echo from the story Featherwagons and Thingamajigs that we read.

Biodiversity Project - Due October 22nd

Students have received the outline for the final Biodiversity project and will require a bristol board for the final product.

They are to research thier species at home/school and bring in all thier work into the classroom where they will put it all together.  The students can use the outline as a checklist to make sure that they have all the components that they need.  There is room for creativity and I have encouraged the students to let thier creative juices flow.

A sample was shown and demonstrated in class for greater clarification.  The project will be due October 22nd.
