What we are up to this week....
Language - Write traits - IDEA - we are doing lots of writing focusing on a main idea and making sure our writing has a variety of details and clarity.
Math - We are looking at the value of numbers based on thier place value. We are comparing, sorting, ordering, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Stay tuned for the test date to be set soon.
Science - We are investigating biodiversity. We learned about the different kingdoms that species come from and are classifying them into thier groups.
Religion - We have created our lanterns to represent our light of God and are talking about what it is like to be a true friend. Thankfully we have so many wonderful positive role models to learn from.

We have planned all units of study in accordance with The Ontario Curricula. The rigorous and challenging classroom program will be highly integrated to ensure that all curriculum expectations are met. As outlined in the Language curriculum: “Language is central to students’ intellectual, social and emotional growth, and must be seen as a key element of the curriculum”. In like manner, the Mathematics curriculum states: “When students learn mathematics, they do more than master basic skills; they acquire a concise and powerful means of communication”. In essence, our goal is to acquire the skills that are essential outside the classroom and in the workplace by meeting the ministry expectations. Albeit intense, the program promises to bring enthusiasm and variety coupled with sound learning theories and a wide array of instructional strategies.
As the year progresses, I plan to be in constant communication with all the homes of the students in my class. The communication will be in a variety of formats, through your child’s agenda, a personal note, a phone call, or by you simply logging on our class blog.
Welcome to a wonderful and exciting year in Grade 6.
